Make a landscape for the summer
Make a fire-pit. Give it some dimension. Use rock-buns, and probably some thatch hut-like structure to roof it. Carved stone chairs will add to the ambience.
On the rocks
Rocks create a very raw energy. They combine well with grass lawns. You can place rocks at intermittent points. But don’t use lots of rocks everywhere or your house could be mistaken for Hazard the Horrible’s. Stone walkways give outdoors a Mediterranean look. You can use cemented stones on the bed of the swimming pool or on its fringes. You can also use rocks around the swimming pool to make it look like a fresh water body in the woods.
Outdoor lighting
Erect tall poles, and light the landscape. Let the light shine on beautiful parts of the landscape. Use one consistent lighting theme for the whole landscape.
